The latest extreme weather event to test the mettle of BC has been met with an outpouring of support, resilience, and generosity. The challenges and trials of the pandemic and the divisions it created have made me long for a sense of community. This week, I experienced just that in the most amazing way. For days I have seen members of my community come together to help each other out with food, trucks, hours of sandbagging and social media communication so people can feel connected and informed. Today I stand and look at the Sumas Prairie with a heavy heart but also with high spirits, because I know the strength of the people who live here. I want to personally thank all the volunteers, some of whom our our customers and suppliers who have come to the aid of this in need without hesitation, and worked with me side by side in our communities hour of need. I also want to ask all of you who read this to remember that for the families and the farmers of the Sumas Prairie, this will not be over in the next week or month. Homes and business will need to be rebuilt. There is a lot of work ahead, but together we will make it happen. - Dave
